The South African Youth Party [SAYP] is a dynamic and progressive political party based in Johannesburg. The youth make up 60% of the South African population, yet only 10% of our political representatives are under the age of 35. For years, young people have been shut out of the political realm, often dismissed as too young or too inexperienced. It is time for that mentality to change. It is time for the youth to have an active voice and real representation in our government.

Young people have the most at stake when it comes to policy making. Not only because we make up such a large portion of the population, but because we will live with the consequences of today's choices for decades to come. The decisions made about housing, education, safety, and the economy will shape our entire lives. We refuse to sit quietly while others decide our future for us.

We are not asking for a handout. We are asking for a seat at the table. We are asking to be heard. We are asking for the chance to prove that young people can lead, can build, and can fix what has been broken for too long.
